5 ways to create your home yoga space.

Throughout lockdown, we have really had to get creative with our space. If you haven't yet done a home yoga class or workout, thats ok, we're being bombarded with so much information about what we *should* be doing and it's ok to feel whatever your feeling. That being said, if you are limited for space, or your space is an obstacle for your home yoga practice, heres a few things that might help you out :)

One

Find a a space- maybe a place that you wouldn't usually sit in or work in, and that can help you drop in to your practice. Natural light is great, and something green to add a sense of calm whilst bringing life to your space, I LOVE plants! Make it your little corner, even if it’s just your little corner for 1 hour (or less).

Two

Scent. Burn your favourite candle, essential oil/ diffuser. If you have been to my Durham classes, you know I always burn a diffuser, and in there you will always find eucalyptus oil. Some other lovely cleansing and soothing scents that I love are, tea-tree, lemon, ravensara & lavender.

Neals Yard have lovely range of essential oils, and I also have a few from Botanics which you can buy in Boots!

Three

Music. Music is a great way to create a lovely atmosphere for your space, as well as relax and energise us, which is why I love to use music in my own practice and classes.
Follow me on Spotify and find my regular class playlists.

Four

Declutter. Try and practice in a space that's free from clutter, so this may be the perfect opportunity to sort our that big pile of whatever has been in your way for a while now! When we have a clear space around us, it can help us on our journey to ease any clutter that we’re holding within.

Five

Props. Find some props that may help your practice. You don't need fancy yoga props (though if you have them, great!)
Some ideas- big books to use as blocks, cushions, pillows, a blanket, fluffy socks.

…. most importantly, don’t feel like you need all of the ‘kit’ or a fancy mat/leggings/props.

Just you is entirely enough :)
